How to donate cash, via mail or online
- Make a one-time or recurring gift by cash or check.
- Mail contributions to Black River Falls Area Foundation, PO Box 99, Black River Falls, WI 54615.
- Give to specific funds using our online portal.
- Contact the Foundation if you would like your gift directed to a particular fund or charitable purpose.
How to donate stocks and securities
- The Foundation accepts gifts of appreciated stocks and securities.
- These gifts may provide tax advantages while supporting the causes you care about.
- Contact Foundation staff before initiating the transfer to receive current transfer instructions and designate how your gift should be used.
How to donate real estate and other property
- The Foundation may accept gifts of real estate and other property.
- Contact the Foundation to discuss the property and your charitable goals before beginning the transfer.
- Foundation staff can help determine how the gift can best support an existing fund, a new fund, or another charitable purpose.
Donating a portion of a retirement account
- You may name the Black River Falls Area Foundation as a beneficiary of an IRA, pension, or other retirement account.
- Donors age 70½ or older may also be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from an IRA.
- If you are 73 or older and subject to an RMD, a qualifying QCD may count toward your required distribution.
- Contact the Foundation and your IRA administrator to coordinate the gift. QCD rules and eligibility requirements may change.
Donating life insurance policy proceeds
- Name the Black River Falls Area Foundation as a beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy.
- You may designate all or a portion of the policy proceeds to the Foundation.
- Contact the Foundation to discuss how you would like the future gift to support your charitable goals.
Donating through your will or trust
- Include the Black River Falls Area Foundation in your will or trust.
- You may leave a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your residual estate.
- Use the Foundation’s sample bequest language when working with your attorney or estate-planning advisor.
- A Statement of Intent can be used to explain how you would like your gift to be used.
Have other assets you wish to donate?
- The Foundation may accept other charitable assets, including life insurance proceeds, farm assets, and other property.
- Contact Foundation staff to discuss the asset you are considering giving.
- The Foundation can work with you to determine an appropriate charitable purpose for the gift.
